December 6, 2016 - The Stamford Professional Fire Fighters Association is hosting its 11th annual toy drive from November 20 – December 15.
Those wishing to donate can drop off a new, unwrapped toy at any Stamford fire station any day of the week between the hours of 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. Gifts should include toys appropriate for children under the age of 18. Gift cards, wrapping paper and scotch tape are also welcomed.
The Stamford Fire Fighters, along with Santa Claus, will deliver all toys to the Franklin Street Shelter, the Salvation Army, the Wilson Food Pantry, pediatric patients at Stamford hospital as well as the community and supportive services at the Family Centers on Lawn Hill Terrace.
"We want all children in Stamford, regardless of their family’s income, to truly enjoy holiday cheer this time of year," said event organizer and Stamford Fire Fighter Brian Slattery. "This year alone, we hope to collect as many as 5,000 toys, helping over 1,000 children in need and help spread the joy and cheer of the holiday season."
Since starting the toy drive over 10 years ago, the Fire Fighters union has distributed over 15,000 toys for children in need of a little extra special holiday all across Stamford. This year, Fire Fighter Slattery hopes for a record turnout of donations.
